Good evening my dear friends. It's been hot as hell here today. If I didn't know better I'd think somebody shoved me into an oven and shut the door for me to bake. But, life is still good.

It's hard to believe that Postcrossing had its 10th anniversary recently. Wow! I am so happy that people around the world still enjoy sending postcards and writing letters. Thank you Postcrossing. Here's to another ten years or more.

I write: Hello Jorien, Mt. Charleston is a 45 minute drive from my home. I love to come here for the day when I need a change of scenery. It always makes me feel cheerful. It's a gorgeous Sunday here in Las Vegas. Normally, I pamper myself by getting an endermologie treatment every week on this day, but I decided that today I would stay home and attempt to organize my writing and creative space. I really need to get rid of some stuff. It's quite overwhelming.

Late last night I prepared a postcrossing for Monday's mail. It's traveling to Brazil

Postcrossings Out The Door

Today was a holiday in the U.S. so no mail in or out. I have two postcrossings that I prepared for tomorrow's (Tuesday) outgoing mail.

I write: Hello Elena, you have the same birthday as my dad. He passed away in 1993 but I think about him all the time. I know he is here with me in spirit which is comforting. I hope you will have a wonderful birthday this year. I will be on a mini vacation in California during that time, so I know I will be having fun on your birthday. A Drive to California and The Painted Card

Good morning everyone. How are you doing on this Thursday? It's been quite a busy week for me so far. I even drove to California yesterday to buy some Powerball lottery tickets, which is something I never do. I could have gotten them at State Line but I drove all the way to Cima Road where there is a neat store that sells home made beef jerky, nuts, and candies. In addition to the lottery tickets, I purchased a few postcards to bring home with me. Not that I need any more really, but I'm compulsive that way.   Yes, I do know that this is a mail blog so I will get on with it.

The other day I went to my Post Office to check my mailbox and there was my name, so beautifully written on an envelope. I was excited to see what it contained inside.

 

Inside was the most beautiful handmade card I have ever received.

 

 

It's simple, it's elegant and it's amazing. Honestly, the photo does not do it justice. The writing on the painted area is shiny and almost looks like vinyl lettering. I so appreciate the thoughtfulness of this card. I am extremely grateful to receive such a gift in my mail.  Thank you Randall.

Postcrossings Milestone

Good Morning Friends!

I have reached a milestone at Postcrossing.com.

I have now officially sent 101 postcards.

Yay!

To date, I have received 88 postcards.

I love Postcrossing.

In addition to being a great learning experience, it is also a wonderful human experience.

It is a soul to soul connection that imprints smiles, dreams and well wishes into my heart.

Writing is powerful stuff, even if it is just to say hello.

 

 

 

Here is a Postcrossing I received from Germany.

The sender writes:

Hello JarieLyn, you're interested in historical buildings.

This one is from 1720.

 It was built to store grain for the miners in the Harz Mountains where it is too cold for farming.

Filled in sacks it was then transported up on the backs of donkeys.

These paths are still used by hikers or changed into ordinary roads.

Today the building hosts the municipal administration.

The thing I like about Postcrossing is being able to read a profile and pick out the perfect card for the recipient, just as this person did for me. Had she not written about the building, I never would have known that it was a historical building, especially from the 1720's.

I love connecting with people through letters, postcards, greeting cards, short notes and gifts.

Each one I receive is a treasure and I do my best to send my recipients words they will treasure too.

Oh my goodness, I love Sundays.

Yesterday was all about postcards.

The sender writes:

It's so slow but be fully exciting.

In addition to these joy, postcard has something else.

I raise three dog-one chihauhua, two maltese.

When I was depressing, my puppies have been a great comfort to me.

Ah, this picture is a wooden and stone structure in Korea.

It's name is pulguksa.

that is very old building and temple.

This temple was built in 751.

Maybe...every Korean students are (almost) have been to pulguksa once.

I hope you are satisfied with this postcard.

 

Wow, this sender has the smallest handwriting I've ever seen.

In font size, I would guess that it is about a 4.

I will cherish this because her message is so cute.

Inside the package, lots of great ephemera.

I was quite happy with this swap.

She even enclosed some feathers.

I don't know what I will do with feathers, but I do like them.

I have some feather earrings and I once had a blouse that had feathers on the shoulders.

It looked pretty glamorous but damn, I couldn't wash it myself.

It was too much of a pain in the ass in regards to upkeep.

But......................

 

I joined this particular swap because the rule was you had to tell about your day on the pc you send out.

 

What do I get?

Sorry, but the pc already gives me info about the city.

I want to hear about you, the sender.

 

Did you not read the instructions for the swap?

Sorry if I sound like a bitch but for me the whole point of sending and receiving postcards in a swap is because you like something about the rules of said swap.

 

I'm talking about Swap-Bot not private swaps or things sent on a whim.

 

Mariska, you are a sweetheart and I am not talking about the card you sent.

I like you and I love everything you send and write.

Just wanted to clarify.
