I found a home for my postcards

Good Morning Sunshine!

Ever since I began getting postcards from Postcrossing I've been wondering how to display them.

Originally I just started piling them on top of my workspace which is always chaos.

Then I started putting them into an portable accordian file case, which got them off of my already tiny cluttered work area but then they were out of sight and I was unable to enjoy or appreciate the beauty and the meaning of the postcards.

I thought about getting a decorative pretty box, but what good would that do?

They'd still be hidden away.

The other day I was cleaning out my hall closet and rediscovered a shadow box that had been stored away for years.

Yay!

I finally knew how I would use it.

It's small, but it's useful for the time being.

Every single postcrossing card I have received so far is in that shadowbox now.

Of course, you can't see them all, but I have some of my favorites showing.

Now, I want to buy more shadowboxes, larger ones to display more postcards that I have received from friends, family and swaps.

This is only a 14x14.

I have about 60-70 cards in there right now.
And if I get bored looking at the postcards in front I can alternate it by just opening the glass door to move things around.

I would love to hear how you display your cards and letters?

Christmas Card Display

Here is a photo of the Christmas Cards I received this year. 

 

 

They cover my whole fireplace.

 

When I was a kid, I always admired my Grandpa and Grandma Philpott's collection of Christmas cards every year. They were the only people I knew who received so many cards. I wanted to be just like them with a large Chirstmas Card collection every year.

They had them displayed on top of their giant TV and I would look inside every single card and read what friends and loved ones would write inside. Most of their cards were from friends and family who lived far away so there was always some written updates inside.

 

To this day, when I send a card I always write some sort of note inside, even if I barely know the person...... I do my best to make it interesting for the recipient.

 

These cards will stay up until January 1st.

 

Next year, I will probably have to hang them on a door becuase I anticipate getting more.
