Postcrossings out the Door

Three more Postcrossings out the door.

This cute lions are headed to Indonesia.
I write: Greetings from Las Vegas! I am a collector of vintage postcards. I have about 5,000 cards in my collection. I especially love the ones that have detailed messages written on the back. I hope you get lots of key chains for your collection. Wishing you the best! <3 JarieLyn

This one is traveling to Canada.
I write: Hi Catherine, Today I hosted a Party-Lite candle party and had pizza for dinner. It was a hot day so I spent most of my time inside where it was cool. Now, the TV is entertaining me with recorded episodes of "Leah Rimini, It's all Relative". Cheers to a good life. <3 JarieLyn :)

These beauties are taking a slow boat to China.
I write: Greetings Luyu! It's been awhile since I"ve been horseback riding but I really enjoy it. All of my husband's family own horses and his brothers and nephews like to participate in roping competitions at the rodeo. Horses are magnificent animals. I wish you a happy life. <3 JarieLyn

Life is Better with Friends and Twins

I'm a loner but I agree that life is better with friends. There's no need to elaborate on the subject.

This Postcrossing arrived in my mailbox from the Netherlands.
The sender writes: Dear JarieLyn, a life together is so much nicer. I'm married now 1 month at 15 May and we are 7 years together. Happy Postcrossing greetings. Rog

This Postcrossing came from Canada.
The sender writes: Hi JarieLyn! We are 6 year old twins from Alberta Canada! We joined postcrossing with our mom so we could learn how mail works. It is so cool to see the postcards in our mailbox! Have a good week. Audrey and Sophia.

Those two twins signed their own names which is adorable. That alone makes this card special.

3 Postcards and a Letter: Outgoing

A Postcrossing on the way to Belarus.
I write: Hello from Las Vegas, Nevada. We have the world's largest neon sign, an enormous cowboy that towers over Fremont Street. The sign is known as Vegas Vic. It's pretty awesome. Wishing you good grades and happy days. <3 JarieLyn

A Postcrossing on the way to Ukraine.
I write: Hello Alexandra, it's a beautiful day where I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. The sun is shining, the birds are singing and magic is happening every moment. The one thing I've learned in my 49 years is that you're never too old to believe in magic. The imagination creates it all the time. Believe!! <3 JarieLyn

A Postcrossing going to the United Kingdom.
I write: Dear Lizzy, Las Vegas is where I make my home with my husband. One thing you can always count on in this town is that many places never close at night. There is always something to do no matter what time it is. Have a great life. <3 JarieLyn

A pen pal letter: part 2. You know who you are! :)

Two Postcards and a Give-Away

Good afternoon. I'm excited to finally announce the first ever give-away on my blog, but before I get to the prize let me share with you my outgoing and incoming mail.

This is an incoming postcard for a swap I joined. I love city scenes like this one.

This is a Postcrossing that I am sending to Canada.
I write: Hello Daniele, you have an interesting profile. I live in the city of Las Vegas but I'm a country girl at heart. I want the best of both worlds; country living with city amenities. Before moving to Vegas my husband and I lived on an acre and a half surrounded by neighbors with farm animals. There were horses, cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, dogs, cats and probably a few I'm forgetting. I loved it. I wish you much happiness. <3 JarieLyn

I hope you all are as excited as I am about my give-away. This one is geared towards all of you Postcrossers, Postcard Collectors, Vintage Lovers, Mail Enthusiasts and Mail Art/Scrappers.  I am giving away 3 lots of postcards, each lot contains 50 postcards. There will be 10 used vintage postcards, and various unused postcards from the early 1900's all the way up today.  Each lot is different, however, there are a few of the same cards in every lot.

This is Lot #1. These are the actual postcards. You cannot see all of them because I want it to be a surprise.

This is lot #2

This is lot #3

I thought about running the contest by having you do something unique, kind of like how Derrick over at I still write runs his contests, but since this is my first give-away I want to make it easy for you. Also, before I complicate things I need to know if people are going to enter my give-away.

So what do you need to do to enter my contest?  Just leave me a comment that has the word postcard somewhere in your sentence.  This is going to be a fast give-away. I will be using a random number generator and drawing the prize winners Thursday evening after 8:00 p.m. pacific standard time, and I will ship it out on Friday.

Outgoing Postcards

Good morning my friends. I'm sitting in my office at home and I've got my portable heater next to me warming my feet. I love feeling warm and cozy as I read all my favorite blogs.   I have a few Postcrossings to share with you this morning, and later maybe a few pen pal letters. Lets get started.

I bought this postcard while in Virginia City last August inside a great little bookstore. The whole store was filled with antiques and books all about the wild west. Fascinating stuff for me absorb.
This card is on a journey to Canada.
I write:

Hello Jenny and welcome to Postcrossing. You have the same birthday as my grandma. She was my most favorite person in the world and I miss her every single day. If you have just a small bit of the qualities she had, then you are a great person. sending you good vibes and happy wishes from my home in Las vegas, Nevada. I hope you enjoy Postcrossing as much as I do. <3 JarieLyn

This card is going to Japan.
I write:
Hello I....., I hope this postcard reaches you with good cheer. Las Vegas, Nevada is where I make my home. In addition to Postcrossing, I also collect vintage postcards for my personal collection. It is my opinion that they tell a more accurate story than the history books.  Smile, it's contagious. <3 JarieLyn.

This card is on its way to Minnesota.
I write:
Dear R., warmest greetings from Las Vegas, NV. I adore any illustration by Norman Rockwell because every time I look at one of his paintings it evokes some kind of emotion from me. It stirs deep within me, a feeling of nostalgia. This particular image is about the reaction to the Vietnam War.  I love how each face shows an emotion of dread. It makes my heart sink. Take care and have a glorious day! <3 JarieLyn.

This card is traveling to Germany.
I write:
Dear S, back when I was in high school many many years ago, the kids who took german as a language would sell german candy as part of a class fundraiser. I always bought some becase it was the best candy ever. It was soft like taffy, a bit sour and was shaped like a skinny candy bar. I wish I could remember the name of it. Keep enjoying your life, it goes by way too fast.  Sending you good vibes. <3 JarieLyn

Until the next posting...............

Have a glorious time.

Bunny Rabbits, a Dog, A Movie Star, A Vaction Spot,100 Year Old PC, An Education and a Letter

Hello my friends.
I've been feeling so good lately, until this morning.
My hands, fingers, and wrists have pain and stiffness.
But I'm in a great mood so that helps.

I've received some great mail again.

A cute bunny rabbit that Sasha would have loved to chase.
This is from 2013 pc #12 swap.

Another cute bunny rabbit sourrounded by lots of color.
This one is from Mariska in the Netherlands.

A dog rolling around in the grass.
I have a soft spot for dogs of all kinds.
This is from my swap partner, Irene for the RR on postcrossing.
She lives in Russia and this is week 1 of 4.
It takes awhile to receive Russian mail, sometimes a full month.

This is an image of Greer Garson, taken in 1939.
This is from the 2013 PC swap #12.

This is from the Simple Postcards #2 swap.
It is a favorite vacation spot of the sender.
I looks like a very serene place.

A vintage Easter Card over a hundred years old.
This comes from John in the UK.
It was a used pc and he recycled the back of it leaving some of the original area still visible.
I am an avid collector of used vintage postcards.
I've never seen one that was used twice, maybe this one will double in sentimental value.

An education in the anatomy of an eye.

A letter from Kimmie in New York.
The envelope is the prettiest gray color I've ever seen.

I've been trying to get more letters out as well.
Here's what I sent out yesterday, starting with the postcards.

A Postcrossing traveling to Belarus.

A Postcrossing going to China.

A Postcrossing on its way to Russia.

A Thank You card for my LEP partner.
I have no other way of reaching her to let her know I received her package.
I've already scoured the members of LEP and did not see her name anywhere.
I don't have an email address or a blog address.
Are there any other LEP members who read my blog?
How do you let your partner know you've received her package for a mail challenge?
Do you make a comment on the LEP blog or do you email Julie?
How do you handle it?
Would love some input on this matter.
Thank you!

A Pen Pal letter.

A Pen Pal letter.

Another Pen Pal letter.

That's all the mail from yesterday.

I probably won't be as busy today since my hands aren't working as good, but I'll do my best.
Have a great day, everyone.

Tuesday's Mail

Wow, I'm a tad late posting Tuesday's mail.
I must say, I made some progress on my outgoing.

Here's what I mailed today:

This lovely postcard is going to a LetterMo participant.

And this one is for A Postcard A Day Swap.

An actual letter going to a recipient who entered info in my postable account.

Another lucky recipient whose info was in my postable account.

And another recipient whose info was in my postable account.

A Valentine for a family member.

Another Valentine.

Paper books for a special little boy.

Paper books for another little boy.

(The boys are brothers and they are in my sister's life)

I still haven't sent replies to the LetterMo mail I've received but I will answer every piece of mail I get sooner or later.

Here's my incoming for Tuesday:

A beautifully decorated envelope for the decorate an envie with hearts swap.
Yes, I know the hearts aren't predominant on the envie but I still love it and rated with a heart.

And this gorgeous envelope came to my home mailbox and it tickled me pink.
It's a handmade envy from my husband's aunt and I love it.

She spent Thanksgiving with us and apparently I inspired her to make her own envelopes.
Her letter made my day.
And she used Betty Boop writing paper which is very very cool.
I adore Betty Boop.
Oh, and my husband's aunt's name is Betty too.

Oh Canada, You're My First

This weekend my mailbox delivered to me my very first postcrossing card.

It was sent by Joanna in Canada.
She wrote that she got this postcard in NYC when she was there earlier this year with her husband.

I'm really glad that my fist postcard isn't a typical touristy cityscape scene.

I also got another postcard that was a happy surprise from a fello blogger.

This beauty was sent by Becky who runs the blog, Leaving A Paper Trail and is known as The Snailmailer.
She sent me this postcard because she had seen a comment I made on her blog.
I love getting unexpected mail.

My outgoing mail consisted of two postcards and a swap.

First, a postcard to my nephew's wife thanking her for her notecard.

A postcrossing card going to China.

This card is traveling to Oklahoma.
It's for a swap I joined on Swap-Bot, "Just a Happy Notecard"

Over the weekend I went to a couple of thrift stores and found some amazing Gianni Versaci Postcards and some very unique Christmas Cards from the Phillipines. I think they might be vintage but I'm not sure and I've never seen Christmas Cards like these before. They are photo cards and they don't look like they have anything to do with Christmas until you read the inside of the card.

Maybe you'll receive one of these postcards or greeting cards from me.
You never know.
:)
